A website should earn its keep
IdeaLaunch Team · August 9, 2026
Most small business websites are brochures nobody reads. They cost money to build, they sit quietly at a domain, and nothing in the business changes.
A website earns its keep when it does at least one job you can measure: it brings in inquiries, it takes orders, it answers the questions your staff answer by phone all day, or it shows up on Google when someone nearby searches for what you sell.
What we check before we call a website done
It loads fast on a cheap phone. Most of your customers are not on fiber. If the page takes eight seconds on mobile data, it does not matter how good it looks.
A stranger can tell what you do in five seconds. Say what you sell, who it is for, and how to reach you. Everything else is secondary.
There is one clear next step. Call, order, visit, or send a message. Pick the action that matters to the business and make it the most obvious thing on the page.
Someone in the company can update it. If every price change needs a developer, the website will go stale. We hand over sites the owner can edit.
The measure that matters
Ask one question every month: what did the website do for the business? If the answer is a number, the website is working. If the answer is a shrug, talk to us.
